Maren Barker joined Lear & Lear in 2011 and manages the Oklahoma oil and gas group.  Maren’s primary areas of practice include title examination, due diligence in connection with the acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas and other energy assets, regulatory compliance, and providing advice to attorneys and landmen at energy companies.

Maren has issued hundreds of oil and gas title opinions, including original drilling title opinions, supplemental title opinions, division order title opinions, leasehold title opinions, surface title opinions, and acquisition title opinions.  She also advises land and legal departments in energy companies on a variety of operational and regulatory issues, including pooling and unitization, lease maintenance, payment of royalties and other production proceeds, surface use, and disputes with royalty owners and working interest partners.

Maren also has extensive experience analyzing joint operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, pooling and unitization agreements, surface use agreements, rights of way, leasehold assignment, royalty and overriding royalty assignments, curative instruments, and various other instruments.
