Matt has been counseling energy and natural resource developers for more than 20 years as both a shareholder at well-respected energy law firms in Salt Lake and Denver and in senior in-house roles at large publicly traded E & P companies advising internal clients and senior management. He has deep experience with contract negotiation, acquisitions and divestitures, operations, land and title matters, access, regulatory compliance, permitting, procurement, government relations support and conflict resolution. He’s based in Colorado.
Matt has appeared in state and federal courts and before state and federal administrative agencies including the U.S. Interior Boards of Land and Indian Appeals, Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining, Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission and the North Dakota Industrial Commission. He’s contributed to the revision of state statutes, obtained a waiver of federal regulation and extensively commented on behalf of clients during rulemakings.
